My laundry room is sort of a mud room, which is a term I only recently learned from getting older and having friends with larger houses. The photo on the left is an example from my dear friend Martha Stewart, whose home to which I have been invited less than once.
A mud room is where you are supposed to come in and take off your shoes, but the location of mine, far from a door we actually use to enter the house, doesn’t work for that. However the floor usually has a light layer of mud on it, due to it’s backyard access, so let’s call it the mud(dy) room. And let’s not insert a picture of it in this post.
My washing machine and her twin sister Dryer live in this muddy room and so do a handful of laundry baskets, garden tools, cleaning supplies, stinky running shoes, beach chairs, and outdoor toys. As you can imagine, whenever Martha comes over, she simply cannot bear to look at this pile of nonsense. Or at anything else in the house.
When we were invited to participate in this super awesome giveaway which will allow you to enter to win a brand new washer/dryer set, I accepted the offer to receive my own set last month. Instead of being super gracious to Rachael, who arranged the delivery for me, the first thing I told her was that I was disappointed that my laundry room was still disgusting. I mistakenly believed adding a sparkling set of appliances would brighten up the room and place me right in the middle of a Pottery Barn catalog. What it did instead was highlight how dingy that room is.
So now I want to thank Rachael, because a) she’s awesome and my mess is not her fault, and b) my laundry room is extremely efficient these days.
The first reason it’s so efficient is because my husband stays on top of the laundry like nobody’s business; the second is due to the features of the Amana washer and dryer. When you start a load, it does what sounds like a super high-tech scan of the mass of dirty clothes you’ve thrown inside. It’s what’s called a “low-water wash system”, and it uses the minimum resources required to wash the clothes. Same goes for the dryer: magical sensors monitor temperature, automatically stopping the cycle when fabrics are dry, which means both less energy consumed and less shrinkage of clothes.
The contest is now over but HUGE thanks to the Whirlpool Corporation, specifically the Amana brand, and Today’s Mama for sponsoring this promotion and putting the giveaway together!)
This giveaway is administered by Today’s Mama, who will be selecting and notifying the winner as well as making sure the prize gets delivered.

Not too bad at the moment… I have a nifty rolling organizer and it’s pretty empty at the moment. But then, by tomorrow it will be full!
Did mine yesterday. I get it done fast because it drives me nuts when it’s all over the place.
I currently have three loads folded to bring upstairs (ha! yeah right!) and a load each in the dryer and washer! …and yet a pile of dirty clothes piling up in our bedroom already!! Where does it all come from?!
Clean but in piles! Piles from before we left on vacation — plus more piles from the laundry that was cleaned yesterday. And some dirty in the kids’ room on the floor where the hamper normally lives (but is being used at the moment to house clean piles!)
Fingers crossed to win! I am moving and will need a washer dryer – my very first set of my VERY own! Right now I do laundry multiple times a week to stay on top of the mayhem, and that means a LOT of quarters. sigh.
I have 3 baskets of clean laundry waiting to be folded… when that will happen is questionable. Why is it that I can wash and dry them, no problem, yet it’s so easy to procrastinate the folding?
My laundry is piled high! We just moved and now I’m desperately trying to catch up! Lol!
Our laundry is piled so high I can barely walk into the laundry room!
Laundry is all done as of this morning. It will be full again by tomorrow though. I can’t believe how quickly it piles up!
Kids laundry is done. Need to do adults tonight!
I’ve got three sorts: diaper/kid laundry-done! my laundry-done! husband’s laundry…well he’s old enough to fold and put it away himself.
Working on it right now! Just got back from holiday travels, so there’s a LOT!
I just got my laundry all done! Of course that was due to the fact that we had a sewer problem and it got all soaked in gunk…
Trying to enter for the give away
My laundry is *washed*, however it sits in piles on my living room floor for like a week before it gets put away!!
Currently washed, but it always sits on the living room floor for a week before getting put away!!
I was never on top of my laundry before having a baby, let alone now with a 6-month old — in cloth diapers, to boot. Our third-hand dryer currently puts holes in every item of clothing we own. We would totally welcome a new washer and dryer to help us deal with these things!
Half stacked, waiting for the next laundry.
Oh my word… I’m on load 3 of about 7. I love having family and friends stay with us over the holidays but the laundry… ugh!
Stacked up like Mt. Everest.
Not bad, but I’ll be washing diapers again tomorrow…
All done!
It’s not done… never has been for more than a couple hours! My family seems to generate a lot of laundry and I sometimes think we have too many clothes… towels, sheets, and definitely too many socks! Thanks for the giveaway!

I don’t have a mud-room, just direct entry to the house. I just cross my fingers and hope the mud wont come in uninvited….
my laundry room also doubles as a laundry room and we are in the (slow) process of updating the room. next on our list: new washer and dryer!
How lucky are we?! My husband is a laundry machine too! I guess since most of the loads are he and my stepson , he takes charge. And he hangs all the right items to keep them from shrinking or being ruined. I am so lucky to have such help, and i know he would appreciate a sparlky new set in our laundry room!
My laundry is a serious, serious hazard! It’s terrible!
Just finishing up the remainder of 57 loads of laundry after holiday company with the flu.
My washer and dryer twins are anything but efficient. If this beautiful pair come to live in our home, I will offer to do the neighbors’ laundry. I know I will love them that much.
Now that I’m pregnant it’s my partner’s job to do laundry (big baskets down 3 flights doesn’t mix with a big belly). So it’s piled up in our bedroom until he trips over them. Gotta love ‘em
Why haven’t they invented a machine that folds laundry and puts it away? That’s my problem.
done for the week
Thank you for hosting this giveaway

My laundry is about 1/2 done which is pretty good b/c we don’t have a washer and dryer in our home right now. We have to go to a laundry mat which is a headache! My family and I would sure love to win this! Love that it is high efficiency as electricity and water are so expensive here in CA. Thanks for the chance!
Currently the laundry is 1/2 full
I have about 4 loads to do…
We always seem to have a giant pile despite feeling like we’re always doing laundry. It’s hard to keep on top of it all especially when we’re always having to fix either the washer or the dryer.
Wishing for a newer washer & dryer, mine is super old school! The agitator doesn’t even work anymore on the washer & the dryer takes at least two cycles to fully dry the clothes! Please Help!
I’ll have mountains on Monday! Also, with a dryer that doesn’t dry… It takes days!
Allllll done!!
I never imagined little kids could product so much laundry! It’s so important to me to have clean clothes that our laundry is always in process. I wash several loads a day and consider myself a professional!
For the first time in just about forever, I have been keeping up with my laundry! Not just washed, but put away too! I don’t think it will last long though, i feel myself falling back into old habits any day now:) I would love a new washer/dryer to make my not-a-real-mudd-room-room look a little bit fabulous and keep me from letting the laundry pile up again!
Currently it is partially done and in a basket ready to be put away.
Entered the rafflecopter form as “Wild Orchid”
Thanks for the cool giveaway!

My laundry is ALWAYS a work in progress!
if it were possible to have 2 washers and 2 dryers going at all times, that is what i truly need.
Monday is supposed to be laundry day. Yet somehow I still find myself doing one last load on Friday…
I currently have mountains of laundry stacked up waiting to be done since our dryer broke. We’ve been taking our 5-6 loads of laundry weekly to the laundromat, which stinks.
Always all done! My mom taught me well! =)
Definitely Mt Everest! =(
i’m doing it right now!
My old washer and dryer are so small that it usually takes me all night to get laundry done .. Till like 3 or 4 a.m. Certainly not high efficiency!
A couple loads to wash.
