Hey Kate,
I didn't grow up in a toaster oven home, so I'm bit of a convert. The toaster oven is great because not only can it toast 6 pieces of bread flawlessly but also it performs many of the oven functions without using as much energy, power, or time. It preheats like a dream.

Thanks for the foreman tip. I don't see breaking up with that appliance any time soon.

2 things:
1) I don't come from a toaster oven family. Can someone please explain why I need this in addition to my oven, which also bakes cookies and all those other things you mentioned?
2) Here's a foreman cleaning trick: as soon as you have finished grilling and removed the food and unplugged the thing, run some paper towels under the faucet and then place them in the (still hot) grill and close the lid. The heat on the wet will cause the gunk to basically steam off the grill plates. Come back to it after eating and the remaining clean up should be a breeze.

I have an older version of the Breville (no Smart IQ?) that we put on our wedding registry as a fantasy item. Luckily, my brother loves me, and that thing has been the best and most used thing we registered for - I love it, especially in the summer when I don't want to heat up the house with the oven, but still want to cook pizza, bread, squash - almost anything short of a whole bird.

My mom bought that Breville toaster on your recommendation and tells me that since then she has sold several friends on it. Since I hate my toaster oven, and also use it daily, I might have to gift myself the Breville.
