Activity #331: Make a fancy photo book

by Heather

Just in case you haven’t been so good about keeping a baby book… photo websites make it super easy to make gorgeous coffee table type albums that will make you look so very together.

When my mom and I took a very special girls trip to Italy to celebrate my 30th birthday (thanks Mom!), I made her a fancy hardback photo book using the iPhoto software. She loves it and it has a place of honor in her living room. Other options:

  • Make something gorgeous with your own hands and printer from Rag & Bone
  • Shutterfly Photo Book (now on sale) would be oh-so-nice as a year-end book with one pic per page
  • Kodak Gallery / Ofoto has a darling mini book that’s great for stuffing in your purse in addition to the bigger hardbound books
  • See some other great examples at My Publisher.

Note: At Ragandbone.com, enter the discount code “rookiemoms” at checkout to save 20% on your entire order. Expires one week from Sunday, 08/19/07.

This 40% discount code on Winkflash.com works for photo books: wx82gf47. Supposedly.

Activity #309: Let your baby ride the family pet

by Heather

Bo rides a dogSome day, your baby will be a man. When that time comes, your pet will fit in your kid’s lap.

But for now, isn’t it super cute and funny to take pictures that really show how teeny weeny your little one is?

Make sure to follow common sense tips for pet safety, but he’s your dog (cat/ tarantula/ snake/ rhino/ etc.), so I shouldn’t have to tell you that.

Activity #429: Create a Tabblo

by Whitney

I read about this on Cool Mom Picks. You can upload pictures or import them from your Flickr account, and assemble them into a collage or scrapbook-like page with captions and borders (I didn’t want any). Then, you can purchase it as a poster, share it with friends, post it to your blog, etc. I got an 8.5 x 11 “poster” for Julian’s room.
