Especially if you live in the Boston area, check out the sunrise photos of Joe Gerry He takes a photo every day, so you can purchase one that comes from a date that’s meaningful to you and the recipient.
Becky writes that she was given one of his prints of the sunrise the day Nick was born, and it has been a cherished reminder of that day. “We’ve bought many more, for wedding and baby gifts, and they always generate tears in the recipient.”
You could also do this yourself for a new mom friend if you get notified in time. Or spend the whole week she is due waking up at the crack of dawn to capture the sunrise. Oh wait, you already wake up at the crack of dawn. Consider this a way to capture proof of your selflessness.

Really. Almost always makes a baby laugh… if it doesn’t work the first time, try again and really draw out the “aaahhh aaaahh aaaaah” part before the “choo”!
At 13 months old, Holden has a “joke” of his own. He can say “aaah aaah chooo” without being prompted (and usually not when he is prompted!). And, what do you know? It makes us laugh too.

For a quick indoor activity, you can stack different toys on top of each other and invite baby to smack ‘em down.
We have some really handy, soft blocks for this purpose (pictured). Do you see how quickly Dylan crawled over to destroy my work — it’s like warp speed? We also have some excellent nesting train toys from LeapFrog.
Sadly, Holden has not developed any interest for building towers yet. But he sure likes to smash my efforts to pieces.
Fun times, no?
