Rookie Moms

Other moms have web sites (dooce, suburban bliss, a little pregnant) that are updated daily with brutally honest and sometimes laugh-out-loud funny stories and observations.

If you don’t have a mom’s group, adopt a few of these women as your new BFFs. Heck, adopt us. We’ll try not to dissapoint you.

Visit the mom blogs daily to see what’s new. Or, visit blogs that focus on one of your other interests. I love to see what crafty lady loobylu is working on. Also in my daily routine: dad blogger daddytypes.com and celebrity baby news at Celebrity Babies.

Just search on your topic of interest and the word “blog” to find [house remodeling, non-ficiton reading, bernese mountain dog] blogs.

Boooooring, I know! But anything loose in the car becomes a dangerous projectile, so make a game out of picking up

• loose toys (so, that’s where that went!)
• spare clothes and blankets (get them clean and back in the rotation)
• trash (do I need to tell you where that goes? no, I don’t think so)
• any other random crap (in our car, it’s water bottles)

For fun, try to do the washing part too. In Berkeley, there are a bunch of Solar Car Washes where you can do the spraying, sudsing, and brushing yourself while baby waits in the car. It takes about 6 minutes to wash a car.

1. Chew bubble gum.
2. Very slowly blow a bubble near your baby.
3. Watch for a smile or giggle.

1. Inflate a large plastic beach ball.
2. Roll the ball to your seated baby.
3. See if he will roll it back.

This will take some practice for sure… so enjoy the process.
