I can’t tell you how much I love these ideas! We struggle with this topic as our children get older and accumulate more things that they really don’t “need”.

When our children were young and couldn’t really appreciate gifts, we often asked family for season passes to our local zoo and children’s museum. Now we all really appreciate purchased dance and music classes, event tickets or ‘certificates’ for a special event with grandparents.

The local art studio is a great idea. One of our local kids museums has a toy lending library so that’s a 2 for 1 (Unfortunately they cut their hours and reciprocal arrangements with other kids’ museums so I terminated my membership).

Gotta support these local places!

Such great ideas. We’re saving up for a local kids art studio. Baby and mommy yoga would be fun too!
